Dan and Katherine would like to thank everyone who came to the Dorset Star Cider Apple Day recently. The weather was very kind with sunshine all the way. The apple press was busy with so many people donating their own apples for the community press to help make some more delicious apple juice and cider.
Thanks particularly go to all the volunteers that help make it happen as well as the wonderful bands ‘Tin of Wonder’ during the day and the ever-popular Steve Tayton Jazz Quartet with vocals from Natalie and Maria in the evening.
Activities included the delicious Apple Cake competition with one outstanding winner, along with some wonderful wood fired barbecued food prepared and cooked by the kitchen crew. The day included some very interactive stall holders demonstrating things like candle making and how to make your own wooden spoon. There were talks on bee keeping and a chance to chat to the Dorset Wildlife Trust, as well as some great local produce on offer. Children’s activities included the ever popular ‘Apple’ themed games. On top of all that, monies taken on the games will kindly be donated to the local community fund.
The biggest thanks of course go to all those that came along on the day to support the event.
Apple Day is the last event of 2024 as the orchard will be closed until the spring, unless of course they decide to Wassail in January. Watch out for more information!
In the meantime, look out for news on Christmas meat orders of Gammon, Sausages, Bacon and sausage meat.
